Private School Vs. Public School: The Power of the Government

When it comes to sending your child off to school, there are a range of emotions any normal parent will feel. Yes, it is going to be difficult to not have your child home with you all of the time, but at the same time, it is necessary for their advancement and growth as a human being. Many parents struggle with this time in their child’s lives and begin researching the best places for their child to be when not with them. Some parents think private school is the answer while other parents think public school is just fine. It is a personal decision to which there is no right or wrong answer. A lot of it also depends on your financial state and how you were raised.

There are many pros and cons to private school and public school. The public schools typically do not charge any tuition so that makes them affordable. They do not have any tuition because tax payer dollars fund these schools. This means their curriculum and everything about them is regulated by the government. This can be a pro or a con depending on who you are. Some parents went to public school and enjoyed their experience immensely. However, just because it is cheaper to attend a public school means that there will be people of all demographics there for your child to meet and possibly become friends with. Depending on what demographic this child comes from could put you in a tricky spot as parents.

Most people believe that private schools are reserved for children who come from wealthy parents. This is not always the case. Some of these private schoolsoffer scholarships for students who want to go, but their parents cannot afford it. It is safe to say that anyone who is paying money for their child’s education wants their child to do well in school to prepare them for life as an adult. However, there are many parents who feel the same way yet pay nothing for tuition because their child goes to public school.

With the government controlling so many other aspects of our lives, it is completely understandable why parents want to send their children to a private school. Sometimes the people need to make the decisions for themselves and not the bigger government who is not physically present in the school system. This will allow you to have an opinion about how the school operates.
